Al Wakrah Old Souq has been built on the ruins of Al Wakrah city (The Old Town), which is estimated to be more than 200 years old and held witness to many historical events.
Al Wakrah Old Souq was inaugurated in 2016 with a total area of (623,765) square meters and composed of (415) old houses. It is located at the eastern side of Al Wakrah beach, where this beach extends around (1237) meters in length, making it the only heritage market in the State of Qatar overlooking the seashore.

The Souq is distinguished from any other shopping destination by containing many diverse and traditional goods that you may not find elsewhere or in any other single place or market. Visitors of the Souq are keen on buying there because of the diversity and the ideal prices of the consumer goods. The Souq includes several sections:

The Souq contains 2 (two) luxurious hotels each having a 5-star rating. They are distinguished by their location in the Souq overlooking the most attractive tourist beach, and built like old historical houses. One is located at the Northern side while the other at the Southern side of the Souq, providing 101 guest rooms and within an authentic traditional environment.
There are (9) old ancient mosques in the market, of which one large mosque and 4 smaller mosques dedicated for daily prayers have been put to service, while the remaining (4) mosques have been restored and preserved. There are also women prayer in different parts of the Souq with their own restrooms.
